Frequently Asked Questions

Carefree Boat Club is a private club. This means that our boats are only available to members. We do not rent or charter our boats. Our members are the only ones with access to the fleet.

Like most clubs we charge a one-time initiation fee  & monthly membership dues. We do not require long commitments from our members; you can join for as little as 1 year and up to 5 years.

No, members have unlimited access to boats. Boat as much as you like. The only limitation is number of future reservations you can have booked at one time. The reservations are not limited by the week, month, or season.

Yes, all members receive “On the Water” training with a National Safe Boating Council Certified On-Water Instructor. Training covers CBC processes, general navigation, docking, and safety. Members can also request as much additional training as they would like, at no additional cost.

The membership is for 2 people. Each membership can have a member and co-member who can come for training, make reservations, and check the boats in and out.

We are not strict about who you name as your co-member because we understand that Avalon is a vacation town and everyone has a different situation with family, friends, co-workers, etc.

We will allow you to name anyone you want as a co-member as long as they are 25 years old. You can absolutely name an in-law, sibling, friend, or co-worker as your co-member.
You can reserve a boat through our online reservation system, ResNet. Members may also call or text us any day to request a spur-of-the-moment reservation. If a boat is available, the member can come take it and it does not count against their future reservations.

Members may have maximum of (4) advanced reservations on the books at any given time. (2) Of the reservations can be weekend time slots. As soon as a reservation is complete, members can immediately book another one.

Reservations are for 5 hours. Morning reservations are from 8:00 am – 1:30 pm & afternoon reservations are from 2:30 pm – 8:00 pm. You can also use two reservations to double book a boat and it is yours for the entire day (8:00 am – 7:00 pm).

Yes, simply call or text us and we will tell you what’s available and you can reserve it for “Spur-of-the-Moment” use. Spur-of-the-Moment use does not count as reservations. It is similar to a “walk on” round of golf.

CBC tracks members vs. boats to ensure we do not have too few boats for our members. In addition to our boats, we also have jet skis that we do not count towards our member-boat ratio. The jet skis are an extra perk of being a member and help open up the reservations system even more.

All members have access to our entire fleet of boats and jet skis. This means members have access to a variety boats from 16’-26’ including our twin engine & single engine center consoles, dual consoles, pontoons, bowriders, rigid hull inflatables, skiffs, and jet skis.

Absolutely, in fact, all boats are inspected daily by the CBC dock staff using a checklist of safety equipment, hull condition, electronics, and general mechanical items.

CBC maintains insurance that covers all of our vessels as well as third party liability. Members generally are only responsible for paying any deductible that may apply if they damage a boat.

Yes, the boat models that are in the fleet are always for sale, if we were to sell a model in the fleet, we would replace it with a new boat. We would only sell any model if we had something better or comparable to replace it with.

The monthly fee is due year-round. The club is really supposed be an alternative to ownership. The club is still taking care of the maintenance, winterization, storage, and anything else a typical boat owner would take care of in the offseason.

One of the cool features of the club is reciprocity at over 100 other Carefree Boat Clubs around the country and internationally. Members are allowed up to 3 reservations at every other Carefree Boat Club each year.

Yes. Members may book up to 3 reciprocal reservations at every other Carefree Boat Club location each year. Also, CBC South Jersey members may go to any other CBC South Jersey location up to 5 times a season at each location.
